![]() ![]() 1Can only be purchased as a package with unlimited data and messaging. 2Must be purchased as a package with unlimited messaging. 3Data is unlimited, but is throttled when the cap is exceeded. What do you think?? not so cheap after all.

ok let's look into that: MTC or Alfa waffer highest plan: 30$ =>120min (not text) USA: 40$ for double the minutes (because you get charged for calls you receive afaik). 5$ for 250 texts? that's 0.02 per text. also who needs more than 250/month? For the Cheapest Data Plans, we are good compared to AT&T, a bit more expensive than the rest. For Unlimited Data Plan, we lag behind, especially T-Mobile and Sprint. Data Overage, we are at 70$/GB. ouch. well yeah if you want to buy a bundle you will need to pay too much. but you get too much also. What is more important, when you buy a locked phone, everything is cheaper since you aren't paying the total price of the phone (you save 450$ over 2 years off the iphone's price) More to that, the running cost of operators in the US is much much higher than in lebanon (wages, rents, rents of rooftops...) I'm not saying we are bad, we're actually close to being good, but we can be much much better. Why not being the cheapest around?

well 40$ in the usa is not like 40$ in here, its way less. so that's a factor you should consider too.

Some carriers have a points system, where points accumulate as you call/use their service..you can get things for points. I remember that my aunt got the htc diamond (old phone) for free. It was worth 700$ in lebanon.

ok so i agree it is a bit more hyped up in the US than it actually it. But u have to take into consideration that they also have family plans. So you pay the price you see on the list for the plans you choose for one line. and then when u want to add more lines to these minutes to text messages its only an additional 10$ for each line.
So for my family we have At&t. 5 people, unlimited nights(after 9pm) and weekends, and cell to cell (unlimited with any other mobile company), unlimited text messaging, 700 daytime minutes, and data on are phones all for 250$ a month. So i find that to me a good deal. i spent 2 months in lebanon and spent 400$ on recharge card (probably becuase i was used to all the unlimited stuff) But yes i always ask why cant we be the same in lebanon, we have definetely improved in lebanon with the data plans and minutes and picking numbers to talk to with a discounted rates, but we still got a ways to go, and its not fair its so high and are wages are much lower. -Miss O. |

The get a free phone with a contract thing is a menace. Think about it. You get a phone and sign a contract for 3 years. That means that if a new model comes out a month or two later (and it will), you are stuck with your contract and can't get a the new phone that you want (and you will want the new phone that was released a month or two later, because phone-nerds are generally retarded). Which means that sooner or later you are going to give up, give in and sign another contract to get the new phone. Then you have two contracts to deal with and guess what? A new phone is getting released next week, and the one you have is sooooo last month.
Sure, you can just buy the phone and not have to deal with these contracts, but I promise you only 1/1000 is going to be that smart. I know more that a couple of people who have 2-4 contracts running at the same time. Do you really think people in Lebanon will be any brighter than these people? |
