What do you really mean by "when i try to connect to the internet"?
How are you doing this?
Is the connection secured?

Yes. It seems that the problem is from the router...
Take a look at the configuration...

is ur router a G or an N router?
cuz i used to have a D-LINK 54G, when i try to connect lets say from my room and my sister connects from near the router, i couldnt connect.

from a year i got the linksys WRT610N, and i must say its the best router i have ever used, i can connect 2 laptops and the ps3 on it and no problem at all.
