Premier League - Anelka agent eyes US switch




Nicolas Anelka's brother and agent has claimed the striker could move to the United States when his Chelsea contract expires.

The 31-year-old's deal at Stamford Bridge runs until 2012, by which time he will have spent 11 seasons in English football.
And he could be tempted to follow former France team-mate Thierry Henry to the States in search of a fresh challenge.
Claude Anelka said, in comments reported by the Daily Star: "Nicolas told me he is interested in playing in the United States.

"We could see him crossing the Atlantic, and I'm serious when I say this. He asked himself what he will do once his current contract runs out.
"The US is quite something, and a dream destination. He says he will give it a try, even though he would earn less money than in somewhere like Qatar."

Premier League - Wenger: Don't expect miracles

Arsene Wenger has not ruled out making signings in the January transfer window - but has warned Arsenal fans not to expect big moves.
The French coach has come in for some criticism as a result of his reluctance to land big-name players, particularly in light of a trophy drought that stretches back to May 2005.

Recent comments had appeared to suggest he was once again not in the market for new players, but he insisted: "It is not definite.
"It depends if somebody goes or not and whether we find on the market something that really gives us a plus - then we will of course not turn it down."
But he added on the club's television channel: "Don't expect miracles in January; you have a high number of players who have played already in Europe and couldn't help us in the Champions League and also clubs do not want to sell their best players.
"It's highly unlikely you find just the player you need in January. It's not about spending money, it's about finding just the right player to strengthen a squad that is already very strong."

Premier League - Terry: Chelsea squad weaker

John Terry has admitted Chelsea no longer have the squad to deal with their recent injury and suspension problems.
The Blues are in the midst of their worst run in the Premier League for more than a decade, a sequence which coincided with the absence of Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien.
"We've missed some key players at key times and it is a case of keeping everyone fit now over the Christmas period, where we have two games in three days," he told the club's official website.
"In the past, we had a big squad and could rotate and put other players in. We don't have that now."
Chelsea have arguably boasted the strongest squad in the country in recent years but a change of policy behind the scenes led to a summer cull of some of their experienced players in favour of more youngsters being blooded.
The effect of that was not apparent initially as the champions began the season at a canter but they have won only one of their last seven league games to slump to fourth in the table.
Their key players are now back and captain Terry is adamant all the club's title rivals will slip up before the end of the season, but he believes it is vital Chelsea do not suffer any more injuries to their star names during the hectic festive period.
He added: "We have quite a young squad and it's a time for everyone to stay together like we always will.
"Once we've turned that corner, we can move on from there and wait for other teams to slip up, which they will do."
It is now exactly a month since Chelsea tasted victory in any competition, partly because Sunday's crunch clash with Manchester United was postponed due to the big freeze.
That means the Blues will have been out of action for 15 days by the time they take to the field again on Monday.

بعد أن تم تأجيل مباراة مانشستر يونايتد وتشلسي في قمة الدوري الإنكليزي الممتاز، بسبب سوء الأحول الجوية، قرر الإتحاد الإنكليزي لكرة القدم إقامة المباراة في أول آذار المقبل.
ويأتي هذا الموعد المتأخر بسبب كثرة البطولات التي تخوضها الفرق الإنكليزية، وسيكون موعدها في أوقات صعبة ولكن مهمة في نفس الوقت، نظرا لأن الدوري يكون قد قطع شوطا كبيرا وإقترب أكثر من نهايته.
وفي حال خرج فريق مانشستر يونايتد وتشلسي قبل هذا الموعد من بطولة كأس إنكلترا فإن المواجهة ستكون أقرب، كل ذلك يعتمد على مدى إستمرارية الفريقين في الكأس.

رفض ملاك نادي ليفربول فكرة عودة الإسباني رافائيل بنيتيز لتولي المسؤولية الفنية للفريق خلفـًا لروي هودسون الذي يحقق نتائج سلبية مع الفريق هذا الموسم، وذلك وفقـًا لصحيفة الميرور البريطانية.

كان نادي الإنتر قد أعلن أمس الخميس أنه توصل إلى اتفاق بفسخ تعاقده مع بنيتيز في أقل من 6 أشهر من تعينه، على الرغم من قيادته الفريق لتحقيق لقب كأس العالم للأندية مؤخرًا في الإمارات، وعاد بنيتيز إلى منزله في مدينة ليفربول ما فتح باب التكهنات بأنه سيكون على رأس الإدارة الفنية في الفريق خلفـًا لهودسون في حالة لم يُحقق الفريق النتائج المطلوبة خلال الأسابيع القليلة القادمة.

حيث خرج كلاًَ من جون هنري وتوم ويرنر الذين سيطروا على الريدز قبل شهرين مؤكدين أنه لا توجد وسيلة لعودة المدرب الإسباني، حيث يرتبط الملاك الأميركان بعلاقة جيدة مع المدير الفني الحالي هودسون، وأعلنوا تمكسهم ببقاءه على رأس الإدارة الفنية للفريق.

ادت الاحوال الجوية الصعبة في انكلترا الى تأجيل مباراتي بلاكبول مع ليفربول وايفرتون مع برمنغهام ضمن المرحلة التاسعة عشرة من الدوري الانكليزي لكرة القدم كانتا مقررتين الاحد.

وتأجلت المبارتان الى 12 كانون الثاني المقبل.
وتبين للبعثة التي تفقدت ملعب بلاكبول صباح اليوم انه لا يمكن اقامة المباراة اذ ان ارضية الملعب غير مجهزة لمثل هذه الحالات حيث وصلت درجة الحرارة الى تسع درجات تحت الصفر.
وهي المباراة الثالثة التي يتم تأجيلها لبلاكبول على ارضه بسبب الطقس، بعد تأجيل المباراتين ضد مانشستر يونايتد وتوتنهام.
كما ان تدني درجات الحرارة المتدنية جعل استضافة ملعب ايفرتون المباراة ضد برمنغهام امرا متعذرا.
