Hello,

Can someone give me a brief definition of what each of the following means? For example what would be my role/job as a Systems Analyst?

And could you please rank them in terms of employability? (In Lebanon or outside Lebanon)

Hi Rayan,

As a system analyst u need to acquire managerial, analytical and technical skills.

Basically a systems analyst performs the following tasks:

* Interact with the customers to know their requirements
* Interact with designers to convey the possible interface of the software
* Interact/guide the coders/developers to keep track of system development
* Perform system testing with sample/live data with the help of testers
* Implement the new system
* Prepare High quality Documentation

As an IT Consultant, you are responsible for the following:

* Consulting, advising, and designing programs to fill the gaps between the actual situation and the desired one
* Coaching, guiding, training (different levels)
* Developing management and supervisory skills and know-how
* Defining the company's mission, goals, and objectives
* Assessing the actual situation
* Identifying training and operational needs
* Improving organizational communications
* Improving work performance
* Increasing employee motivation
* Raising the levels of organizational performance and achievements
* Achieving Customer satisfaction and customer loyalty
* Enlarging the company's customer base and market segment.

As an IT Technician:

Depending on the job description, an IT technician can be tasked with supporting desktops and laptops, productivity software, servers, databases, telecom equipment (especially voice over IP). The more technology you know, the more marketable you can be. There are a few exceptions, some specialized fields like database administration, that don't require you to know everything about everything.

In addition to that, certifications would help u a lot! (CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, etc.)

Finally, as for the systems integration developer:

I guess it deals with pure software. You must have extensive knowledge of LINUX with Scripting, shell, security and protection and program languages.

Around here IT Consultants could mean anything. You can be a programmer, db admin, etc...its a very broad title.

Systems Analysts are architect applications, document, diagram (UML) etc....Programmers tend to become SA because you need some sort of a background before you can start architecting solutions.

Finding a job tends to come with experience and your set of skills. If your skills are in System Administration you cannot be hired as a Programmer, and vice versa.

And what if someone knows from everything (programming, system administration, networking, security...), In what position should he/she be placed?
(I mean by the word "knows" that he/she's fairly good enough at a certain level...)

like you..

You should start from somewhere/something specific in a company that has/needs everything. then you can become a manager, just sitting on your ass and telling the others what to do, while you earn the most money.
