These creatures existed more than 200 million years ago... so everything was possible back then, and no one can make us sure of what he has discovered, because 200 million years ain't a normal number...
died due to: lack of oxygen? maybe... lack of preferred food? maybe... Cold? who knows?? Hot sunny days? who knows too?? They might have jumped to another planet? aliens ate them? the reason that makes sense: got assassinated (all) by syria? maybe...
