Premier League - United deny £1.5bn sale report
![]() Premier League leaders Manchester United said they were not for sale after the Sunday Times reported that Qatar Holding had held talks about a £1.5 billion takeover. "There has been no approach of any kind to buy the club and one wouldn't be welcome anyway because it is not for sale," a spokesman said, adding that the newspaper story was wrong. The Sunday Times reported that the Glazer family, the unpopular American owners of the Premier League club, had held talks with a group, believed to be Qatar Holding - the investment group controlled by the Qatari royal family. The report said the talks had floundered because the Glazers valued the Old Trafford club at closer to £2bn. The Glazers bought Manchester United, one of the most famous clubs in the world, in 2005 for some £790 million against a wave of protest from fans who anticipated they would load it up with debt. No one from Qatar Holding was immediately available to comment. Reuters

@Abruzzy: who said that? w yeah I agree, men sir metel City aw Real b eyyemon, buy stars w more stars w more stars, so no ma badna hek, atleast the Glazers give Sir Alex everything at the club and they respect that, they don't want to be involved they just wanted more money, so Sir Alex can choose who to succeed him as manager w he can decide on who to buy and sell without having the owners on his back cz owners never really get things right when it comes to that. So the one who said that has a very good point.

Rafael misses cup tie
Rafael will miss Saturday's FA Cup tie at Southampton after being stretchered off in Tuesday night's dramatic win at Blackpool. The Brazilian full-back clashed heads with Marlon Harewood in the latter stages of United's 3-2 victory and was swiftly taken to a local hospital. He was not detained overnight, however, and was able to travel back with the rest of the Reds squad to Manchester. Sir Alex Ferguson told ManUtd.com this morning: "It's a straightforward one. He has concussion and will miss Saturday's game." The timing is unfortunate for Rafael - he also missed last weekend's match against Birmingham City due to a one-match suspension for his two yellow cards at Tottenham Hotspur.

Dimitar Berbatov is in the midst of his finest spell of form since a £30.75million move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, and yet the Bulgarian striker still believes the pinnacle of his career lies in the months and years ahead at Old Trafford.
Berbatov turns 30 on Sunday and has already retired from international football, but having already reached the 20-goal mark for the season – 19 of those coming in the league – his form suggests he could well be right. Asked if this is the best he will play, he responded: “I hope not. I hope my best form is in the future. I think I am still to play the best games of my life in a Manchester United shirt.” His goals have fired United to the top of the league and a five-point advantage over nearest challengers Arsenal, six points ahead of Manchester City with a game in hand and ten points better off than fourth-placed Chelsea. But he is not getting carried away, either with his own form or United’s seemingly healthy position. He told ESPN: “I just look to my next game, then the next game, until the end of the league when I hope that we will be on the top. “Let’s not underestimate the other teams. They are very good teams and there are a lot of games to play before the end of the season. We’re in a good position. But that means nothing if you don’t win the next game.”
