توفي في الساعات الأولى من فجر الجمعة 26-6-2009 نجم البوب الأمريكي الشهير مايكل جاكسون متأثرا بأزمة قلبية في أحد مستشفيات لوس انجلس عن عمر يناهز الـ50 عاما. وكانت الأنباء تواترت في الساعات الأخيرة من يوم أمس الخميس عن نقله إلى مستشفى جامعة كاليفورنيا بسبب عدم انتظام ضربات قلبه، ثم دخوله في حالة غياب عن الوعي نتيجة لعدم وصول الأكسجين إلى دماغه. وجاءت وفاته بعد ساعات قليلة من رحيل الممثلة الشهيرة فرح فاوست عقب صراع طويل مع السرطان. وسارع العديد من معجبيه إلى المستشفى فور تسرب الأنباء عن وفاته. وجاكسون من مواليد 21 اغسطس 1958، وهو الابن السابع لعائلة جاكسون، بدأ مسيرته الغنائية في الحادية عشر من عمره في فرقة جاكسون فايف (العائلية). وينتمي لعائلة في انديانا من الطبقة المتوسطى، لوالده جوزيف والتر وأمه كاثرين اسثير، وهو أحد 9 أشقاء. وبرزت موهبة جاكسون الغنائية منذ سنواته المبكرة، وبدأ مشواره الفني منفردا عن فريق العائلة جاكسون فايف، عام 1971، ولقب بملك البوب بفضل البوماته التي حققت نجاحات ساحقة al arabia
