well this is inspired from the divorce thread
jess seems to see divorce as a bad thing, because it did not used to exist before so oftenand the idea around people is often that, what is not traditionnal and old is bad people seem to have a closed mind when it comes to trying new things and changing or killing old habbits and I often hear it from my father for example"the yogurt you buy from the supermarket is bad because it is made by metalic machines" yeah like the farmer that scratches his butt then milks the cow is cleaner -premaritial sex, against tradition, people label it bad without arguing why or giving scientific evidence or something -drinking more pepsi than water -smoking pot(it's notaddictive nor lethal, unlike nicotine) -abortion and hundreds of other stuff that go under this label do you really think that traditions are correct and anythign that breaks them is automaticly bad? do you believe that there is an alternative way to live our lives with different morals and beliefes and habbits that would make our lives better? walla what we have now is awesome and should not be changed?

The problem happens when people change their lives to fit with the rules even law zarek the big proof is religion (yalla balsho...) knowing that most people who call themselves believes don't apply any of them but they just don't accept the idea it's wrong.
So basically when it comes to the marriage example, people tend to critcize it simply because they don't know it. Most Lebanese women who are beaten up by their husbands daily prefer to stay shut to avoid "7ake el 3alam".

Well this is a big problem in our society, people are very affected by what others say, we rely on their opinion and don't think of what is best for us, what is good for us, and more importantly what is right in our point of view.
When a person decided to break a rule or to do something differently from what others used to do in the past like premarital sex, abortion and divorce all the society does is judge him without listening to his justifications. this is the main reason why such stuff or considered bad. Did anyone ever ask a divorced couple why they did it, or did they have an alternative??? no they just judge them. Does anyone ask a couple why they had premarital sex? no they just judge them. Uncommon things are not bad they are condamned by our society, this is why we fear to even try them.
