I just hate emulators, they make things slow and limited like Wine on Linux or XAMPP on Windows. Linux drives are accessible from windows through SFTP based virtual drive for easy editing for my scripts since i use windows and my laptop(Ubuntu) for coding live on the server. I had a big sound system for it, but i had to replace it with headphones due to lack of space. My workstation is always on, it has 3 UPS to keep everything 100% functional when electricity cuts off.

XAMPP is limited comparing to Apache, try to change prefork to worker... their website name explains anyway >> www.apachefriends.org Limited online support comparing to Apache. And finally from my personal experience, after using it for more than two years as well as easyphp, they completely suck =)
