i connected them trough crossover cable via the ethernet card each one of them say its connected but they cant see each other i tried all the ways and none is working :S any help plz PS: abt the workgroup stuff i tried it i renamed the workgroup to be same on the computers |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
go to your firewall settings and set the connection between the 2 pcs to "trusted" (or whatever it is called) (on both pcs). and disable windows firewall.
DONE! |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
well i tried connecting xp-vista several times.as kingroudy said ..turn off the firewall of ur antivirus and the built-in...if u want play games then its okay u can ..if u want to share files...u need to open the network and sharing center in vista..and allow something called public sharing...then u need to specify for each pc or laptop an IP anything ..and then go to any folder and share it . if u still have probs tell me

as for the other things, go to the network sharing center of vista and configure everything from there. |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
eh i know man ..ma i already said inno he has to turn of the firewall..some firewalls are more sensible than others.
|
Re: XP - Vista Networking
make sure to put a password for vista if you want to share printers

Re: XP - Vista Networking
turn off the firewalls.
test the cable:S ping, can u? what IPs r u using?... give us more details:) |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
I pinged the IP of the desktop from the laptop im getting 32 ms response
ping from desktop to laptop timed out i disabled the firewalls on both computers desktop IP: 192.158.151.12 subnet mask: 255.255.254.0 Laptop IP: 192.158.151.13 subnet mask: 255.255.0.0 |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
use 192.168.0.1 |or| 192.168.1.1
and 192.168.0.2 |or| 192.168.1.2 subnet is 255.255.255.0 try without gateways, or set each pc's gateway the same as IP of the other PC 32 ms response on cable networking is TOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. yalla it should work now |

Re: XP - Vista Networking
Make sure you use the same workgroup and turn on the public file sharing on vista and put passwords on both xp and vista and it should work fine
make sure you are using a crossover cable make sure of all your ips the best way is to open CMD.exe from the run on vista per example and type ipconfig notice that the IPv4: should be the ip for each pc on the network, the gateway should be the ip of the computer that is directly connected to the internet. if these info doesnt help you consult and expert or buy a router ( you can find some cheap ones 2day) |
Re: XP - Vista Networking
Problem solved guyz,
well here is the solution: i installed a little proxy server on the net and i set the proxy as the IP of my desktop and i changed my intertnet options on my laptop : tools-> internet options ->connections -> LAN settings -> check use a proxy server and enter the desktop IP with the port 808. ->check the bypass done :D Mabrouk for all who are having the same problem beside me |
