أكد المخضرم رايان غيغز لاعب نادي مانشستر يونايتد أن الأزمة الحالية التي يمر بها ليفربول والتي تواصلت مؤخرًا بإقالة المدير الفني روي هودسون، لا يُمكن أن تحدث في فريقه وذلك بسبب الأسس الناجحة التي وضعها السير أليكس فيرغسون على حد وصفه.

ليفربول الذي يفصله أربعة نقاط فقط عن صاحب المركز الآخير في البريمر ليغ عين اليوم كيني دالغليش مديرًا فنيًا خلفًا لهودسون حتى نهاية الموسم الحالي، حيث سيخوض أولى مبارياته مع النادي عندما يحل ضيفًا على مانشستر يونايتد غدًا الأحد على ملعب الأولد ترافورد في مباراة الدور الثالث من كأس الاتحاد الإنكليزي.

وتابع الويلزي عن الأوضاع التي يعيشها ليفربول قبل مواجهة الغد :" ليفربول ناد كبير ولكن كان من الواضح أنهم لديهم كم هائل من المشاكل خارج الملعب، فقد عينوا مدير فني جديد هذا الموسم، بجانب مشاكل ملكية النادي، ولكنهم يمتلكون لاعبين متميزين في الفريق وسيلعبون مباراة كبيرة ".

Alex Ferguson Cagey Over New Contract For Michael Owen


Sir Alex Ferguson says a fit-again Michael Owen has an important part to play in the second half of Manchester United's season but refused to be drawn on the striker's contract situation.

Owen has failed to make a significant contribution to United this term, starting just three games this campaign.

The striker has only just recovered from the major hamstring injury he picked up in last season's Carling Cup final and Ferguson says a fully fit Owen is an integral part of his squad.

"Now he is back fit, Michael will always be considered part of the squad and he will play in some big games," Ferguson told radio station Key103.

"He is a terrific player and a role model in the dressing room. He has never missed a session while he has been fit."

The 31-year-old's contract with the Red Devils expires this summer and the form of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez, along with Wayne Rooney's five-year contract extension and Danny Welbeck's return from his loan Sunderland has cast a large shadow over the former England striker's future at Old Trafford.

But Ferguson says he is yet to speak to Owen about the future and is in no rush to do so.

"I have not spoken to him about next season. There is no need for me to discuss that at the moment," the manager added.

Police arrest 15 fans during United's win over Liverpool


Fifteen fans were arrested for public orders offences during Manchester United's 1-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, police said. A heavy police presence surrounded the game between two of English soccer's biggest rivals at Old Trafford, where emotions were running even higher than usual as Liverpool fans celebrated the return to management of their favourite Kenny Dalglish.
"During today's policing operation...there have been 15 arrests for a variety of public order and criminal damage offences within the ground," chief superintendent Mark Roberts said in a statement.
"Risk groups of Manchester United and Liverpool were identified as attending the fixture and an effective policing operation has prevented any serious disorder."
