to ping your friend to see if he's online on the channel do this

If you get reply on that ping then the computer is on the network and having shared folders, play games networking.... is possible
IP range wheres that?? mask its the subnet mask rite?? its always 255.0.0.0

computers with 192.168.0.1 ......... 192.168.0.255 are on the same range (i just gave an example)
subnet mask is the mask (wad7a)
w set it 255.255.255.0 for the second IP.

u can't add to connex on one network card.
all u can do is to add another ip to the established connex(if there is one already)
and to put for ur friend an ip wich is in the same range.
the subnet mask come alone when u put the IP leave it.

the IP is not a random number
u can put "192.168.0.#"(# is a number 0<#<255)
or "192.168.#.#" or "17.17.17.#"

same range example:
192.168.0.1,192.168.0.2 these 2 IP are in the same range.
yi3ni if an IP is "a.b.c.d" so another IP in the same range is "a.b.c.e" so the first three set of number are the same.
