Sorry,it is just too hard to force yourself to believe.Maybe you are right,I probably should believe in "god" as an insurance policy;I can't force myself though. If there is a "god" who will punish me for eternity because his evidence was so vague, I will just have to take the heat I guess. I choose reason,thus atheism.

Don't be so sure. How many is "many"? Ofcourse the fear of death and the uncertainty of what is after scares people into believing in "god" and religion and ofcourse that fear becomes greater as death looms by but most of the time the trip from superstition to reason and logic is on a one-way ticket.

I don't believe in them...Today,Sathya Sai Baba( a south Indian guru) has been witnessed by thousands who say that he performed miracles. Google him up,there was even a documentary on Discovery Channel about him. If you see him levitating or doing some other "miracle",would you become a Hindu?

Note:If you do become a Hindu,expect lots of people to make fun of your polytheistic beliefs and especially your belief that the Ganges River is a sacred personification of the Goddess Ganga

Lots of believers including myself believed in GOD from logical reason and not only heartfelt faith. You and i just thought differently, it doesn't mean atheism is the reasonable option and faith in God is not. By reason, I mean that every argument for the existence of God can be refuted. I don't doubt that many reasonable people are religious. But sometimes you just feel that people are willing to use reason to question everything,even other people's faiths, but never willing to question their own faith with an unbiased approach.
