Any system of ranking members, be it by the number of posts or thanked posts or quoted posts or whatever method used, first is useless and second discouraging to newcomers...I think even the number of posts is better not to appear under one's avatar and only appear in his/her profile to avoid a natural hesitation of strong arguments against old members (with high number of posts/rank) by newcomers and since that number serves no purpose...thats the way I see it at least...as for the ranks, it is a bad idea and many huge forums (ubuntu is an example) tried it and canceled it later...

I don't know why are you talking about "natural hesitation of strong arguments against old members", I don't think it exists... All members are treated the same in vcoderz without looking at there number of posts...

First, I am not saying anyone is treated badly in vcoderz. I insist actually that many ppl or at least a considerable proportion will feel easier debating a member who doesn't have a billion posts under his avatar. Thats why many forums tried it and cancelled it.

Second and most important, What's this obsession by everyone to be graded and rated by someone else???!! Post, Reply and be satisfied with what u r posting. Thats what matters. If you are being thanked for posts, it might mean that some ppl took time to read what u wrote and liked it...That should be enough. It becomes an obsession if u want a grade sticking under ur avatar for every passer by to see...Anyway it is silly to debate things in a "Suggestions" thread. Thats my opinion of the suggestion above...
