No... and it is not a word... it is a sentence...
This challenge is very hard for those who are newbies in Stenography... It is a very clever challenge... First hint: There are only 2 colors... black and white ... these colors are complement to each others... |

Sweets_HsN®, in stenography you shouldn't always just use your eyes... You should sometimes use your brain before using your eyes...
And I ma tell you how... The solution is: If we look at the picture... we will see nothing from it... So we try to open it with notepad and see if we can find something special... But unfortunately, when investigating the file using notepad, we only see garbage... So we should do something else... As a beginner in Stenography, it is not a big problem if we don't know how to extract the text... It is normal... we are here to learn... The picture is in black and white (only two colors)... these two are complement to each other... In the world of computers, data is represented in bytes... each letter is 1 byte... 8 bits of 0 and 1... 0 and 1 are two complement numbers like the black and white colors... So let's try to convert the white color to 1 and the black color to 0... But how to do so??? We have to open the picture in Adobe Photoshop (or other tool that do the job), and save the picture as .RAW extension... After converting the file to RAW format we go and open it in notepad... We will see spaces and ÿs... we have to replace each space with 1 and each ÿ with 0 using the 'replace all' function in notepad... After we do this, we will have a text full of 0 and 1... Take this text and convert it into ASCII using a BINARY to ASCII convertor... This is a link of a convertor... http://www.yellowpipe.com/yis/tools/encrypter/index.php After doing the conversion we will obtain the sentence: Congratulations, You have discovered this message, paste this entire thing in the answer box, for your points You may obatin a garbage value at the end of the string, and this is because the number of bits in the text you selected is not divisible by 8 (each 1 byte = 8bits). What I mean by this is that we have some uneeded bits at the end of the text that we should not include in the conversion... |

if u want to see it more graphically, u can save the pic, and open it with "Paint". then click on View>Zoom>large size
u'll be able to see the pixels, one by one. Each black pixel represents a binary '1' and each white pixel represents a binary '0'. if u're very patient u can even manually construct the binary string of 0's and 1's _ good luck with that ![]() ![]() ![]() then, as explained above, u convert the string of 0's and 1's into ascii Last edited by polo; 07-04-2008 at 11:20 PM. |
