over the years, almost everywhere, you read tips and tricks about windows tweaks, and ways to speed up your pc, with commercial products claiming to automate the job for you. while there are many useful tips, the MOST FAMOUS are IRRELEVANT MYTHS!! by the time you finish reading this article, you will NOT be so happy, and you will start uninstalling softwares:P. Here i Highlight the main ideas of the mentioned article.
-Disabling QoS to Free Up 20% of Bandwidth FAILED! microsoft's official response said NO, and disabling QoS makes some softwares not work. (this trick was posted on vcoderz before )-Make Vista Use Multiple Cores to Speed Up Boot Time this setting is for troubleshooting and debugging.. only. -Clearing out windows prefetch for faster startup ed bott, a windows expert explains: The .pf files don’t get used at all until you run a program. What actually happens when you click an icon is that Windows uses the information in the Prefetch folder to decide which program segments to load and in what order to load those pages. -Cleaning the Registry Improves Performance one of the most common tips, with an industry of dedicated software, but THAT.. doesn't work, unless u r cleaning a bug in the registery. cleaning one hundred useless keys among hundreds of thousands others in the database.. what would that give you? -Clear Memory by Processing Idle Tasks read the article for more information -Cleaning RAM with memory optimizers that sounds goods, except that it isn't good. all what such software d is that they free the faster memory... BUT put the load on the much slower hard disk (as pagefile). this means, at best you get nothing, at worst the performance of already running softwares will be degraded. -Disabling Shadow Copy/System Restore Improves Performance this feature is vital for your PC, and it keeps it safe in case of a crash. Restore points are on only created after you install a software or an update, and the automatic checkpoints are done only when you are not using the PC. if you want to save space, use disk cleanup to delete older restore points. -Enable SuperFetch in Windows XP how can you enable something that doesn't really exist? -Disabling services speed up your PC unless a service is causing troubles, or you are totally not using it, you don't need to disable it, and specially Microsoft services. some of the MS services that can be disabled are:
share your opinion.. and your objections.
