Hi,
I logged in to my desktop pc today and I can see Windows XP (the black background with the logo and loading) and then the computer automatically restarts. I tried to restart several times but I am not able to login to windows at all. I put my windows xp CD into the cd-rom and ran from CD, and went to installation to possibly upgrade or repair. I was shocked to see that drive C is empty and the format technique isn't NFTS, it is Unknown! I also saw that drive C has nothing in it! It's all free, and the installation requested that I format the drive and install windows. I think format will work, but I have some files on the C drive that I hope not to lose (Even though I keep my files mostly on D). Anyway, did this happen with you ever? and is there a solution to recover my pc to how it was working yesterday. Note that I shut down my pc yesterday and nothing was wrong, and nobody messed with my Desktop pc. I hope someone knows the solution to this problem. Thank you, Wassim Last edited by wassim; 10-05-2008 at 07:11 PM. |

No problem, Insert the windows xp installation cd, of course the one that you have it on your pc!!! and boot from it then wait till it loads, then it comes a place where it says press F2 button for recovery console bla bla something like that, then it gives you black screen, there you write the following:
"chkdsk /p" without the quotations and wait till it finishes to 100% and your done PS: it has happened several times with me and this solved it |
