Trash Music

Ladies n Gentlemen, in ur opinion, who has the authority to say what music is good n what music is bad (trash)... Isn't it a matter of taste? if I hate pop music, does it means that it's trash? Can the ppl who like pop music say that Rock is sh*t ? I guess they can, but is it true?

justin this is a good question,

you can judge a song by it;s lyrics and it's music, there are many brilliant songs even rap songs that carry alot of meaning take an exampl NANA who sings about god which is good lyrics, it;s true that music is all about taste but if you compare songs with others you will find which is better, and it depends on your mood, trhe brilliance of the lyrics and most importantly who sings it... you can definetly say that "you my niga, i'll but yo ass i'll put a bullet in your head... " it;s pure trash... anyway it;s a hard subject to argument on but in an artistic/composer point of view it;s the lyrics, the music, the singer/band that matter and they are evaluated based on these.

Being subjective in your taste is one thing. ( although, one can surely still bash other music genres for their overall emotional appeal and atmosphere).
You can call a whole ( or at least most of ) genre trash if you have good objective arguments for it, though.

But when it comes to labeling music trash, it is when the music is just made for sell-out, commercial reasons and with no real value.
