Define the entity called "Satan" a definition that is not only coherent and consistent, but also self-explanatory and then we might be able to judge rationally and debate logically if such an entity is more likely to exist or not...

Satan = evil forces.

No one can deny the fact that we have 2 powers in this world: Good and Evil.

when someone is a believer, evil forces will not be able to control him, being close to God and praying daily will keep these forces away.

evil forces exist for sure, i am not going to adopt the story of God fired the Bad angel from heaven so that he created hell etc... it may be true, and it may be a simple example given to people so they understand the concept in an easy way.

God is the only protector, Evil forces are always ready to control our minds and push us into bad things, being a believer is the only way to keep these forces away from us, because their aim is to hurt God's creatures and pollute their souls.
at the end, believers will gain the eternal life.

In general, on the whole post. There is no such a thing as evil, evil people, evil acts, evil thoughts and all that. What exists are certain actions and people and thoughts that are considered wrong or evil at a certain time in history in a certain culture and in certain circumstances. I am amazed how people can't see that in general nothing is wrong. Take killing, it can be universally wrong in cases and still be encouraged by everyone in other cases.

In general evil is relative, wrong is relative, and right is relative. Therefore if Satan is the representative of evil, he has no unifying definition and therefore he is a made up concept that has some unifying cross-culture characteristics but a whole lot more differences between cultures and stages of history.

A lot of things can be called "Satan" and certainly most of these things exist...

So what is Satan? People get stuck in technicalities and fail to see the big picture. If you want to imagine Satan as a red guy with a big pitchfork and two small horns who tries to whisper to you all the time and convince you of doing impious things, you might find the idea hard to believe especially for those with a skeptic mind. But what if God meant that Satan resides in every one of us, that he is the innate tendency humans have that makes them weak and vulnerable to break down and do things they know are wrong?

That is the beauty of religious philosophy and religious truth. It is not changing, yet the meanings of what it represents are getting more sophisticated as we get more sophisticated as a species.

If God chose to actually represent these innate traits and this specific side of humans in one angel called Satan or if there actually is a convincing angel called Satan whispering to us of bad deeds doesn't matter anymore; the result is the same. Satan, in a form or another, once understood with what he represents, does exist.
