It seems that you're too lazy to set up a good thread...
What should we understand by seeing the word "router" as title and "Mikrotik anyone?" as post?! Being lazy, will make the other people you are asking lazy too... Do not expect from anyone to provide you with solutions for broad and ambiguous questions... So please be more specific and describe everything... Last edited by Google; 02-13-2009 at 12:33 AM. |

And what I can see is that you are still lazy... Anyways, I will assume that all the connections and everything is managed well, the configuration should be like this: 1- Enable and name the Ethernet interfaces. The interface which is connected to the network will be called int, and the one connected to the existing router will be called ext: /interface set ether1,ether2 disabled=no /interface set ether1 name=int /interface set ether2 name=ext 2- Then let's assume the gateway has the IP address of 10.0.0.1/24. Adding the address of, for example, 10.0.0.2/24 to this interface, you should be able to ping the gateway. If it is not happening, then you should swap cables (i.e. plug the one connected to the ext interface to the int and vice versa...) Note: If neither works, there might be a firewall set up on the gateway, remove it temporarily and try again... /ip address add interface=ext address=10.0.0.2/24 /ping 10.0.0.1 3- Create a bridge interface which bridges both int and ext physical interfaces: /interface bridge add name=bridge /interface bridge port set ext,int bridge=bridge Note: the IP address should be transferred to the bridge interface: /ip address set [/ip address find] interface=bridge Now you can simply add the desirable queues. Note that you may use the names of the real interfaces for these queues. For example, to limit all download to 256Kbit/s and all upload to 128Kbit/s, it is enough to add two queues: /queue simple add limit-at=131072 interface=ext /queue simple add limit-at=262144 interface=int By the way, I left you an example here: http://sosoblood.freehostia.com/mikrotik/ Last edited by Google; 02-13-2009 at 02:58 AM. |

Telnet if it's a Mikrotik Router, but in his case it is a PC having Mikrotik Router OS installed...
And I don't know why he don't use winbox, he want to use a Mikrotik OS so I gave him the configuration... But I don't remember if he can shape the traffic based on its type with winbox... Mikrotik is more professional and much more efficient... He can also take care of the quality of service... But I don't know if he wants all this! ![]() Ebook ==> Mikrotik.com & wiki @icemaker I don't know what do you want me to cover with the tutorial, because the topic is very big... I provided here an example and an advancd one... Anyways, I'll try to prepare something as soon as I have time.. |
