Default Exclusive Interview with Alain:Sawt El Ghad Host

P: Alain, you studied international business management and banking, how come you are working for “Sawt El Ghad” as a radio host?

A: I started radio as a hobby and it turned out to be a passion, since then, I haven’t stopped.

P: You worked as well for Radio ONE fm, Radio Station Broumana in 1983-1991, Radio Mount Lebanon in 1991-1997, in Feb 1997-Jan 2003 Radio Fame fm and later on for Radio 2Moro in Australia in 2006-2007, why were you in a continuous move between radio stations?

A: You know, after a while, you reach a certain level where there is no room for improvement in a radio station, so you start looking for a change. That’s the official answer. The truth…hehehehe

P: You have your own morning daily show and an afternoon show at “Sawt El Ghad”, how can you describe your experience in “Sawt El Ghad”?

A: A very good experience as I have total editorial and musical freedom in my shows. Nobody ever interferes in what I am doing; I guess they know I’m crazy…

P: Are you getting any other job offers in other stations?

A: What do you think?

P: How can you describe the tight relationship with the microphone after all these years?

A: It’s a LOVE relationship with the mike & the listeners as well.

P: Are u in good relation with your colleagues at “sawt El Ghad”, and by the way congratulations for the new position granted to Mrs. Rima Njeim, are u in good relationship with her?

A: My relations with ALL my colleagues are very good.
P: Usually, is there any competition between colleagues working in the same station or you just encourage the team work and set it as a priority?

A: There is no way you can eliminate competition, but this is what makes you and your shows progress…Competition is healthy, although we all have different styles.
P: You returned lately from Australia because you said you missed your home country, do you regret it?

A: No regrets whatsoever.
P: “Geday” is not a Lebanese family name, right? What’s its origin?

A: Italian and Austrian.

P: In this profession, do you quit work at a certain age or you think that being behind the mike and not in front of a camera is different?

A: It’s very simple: as long as you’re good in what you are doing and you’ve got sponsors for your shows, you’re on the air…TV or Radio, it doesn’t matter…Just don’t go political, it’s the fastest way to shorten your career, At least, that’s my opinion.

P: Did you ever think of working for a TV station? Did you get any offers?

A: People ask me this question very often. By nature, I am a loner…I can’t see myself running after producers or directors…Everybody knows where I am. That’s why I never thought of TV.
P: “Sawt El Ghad” experienced lately lots of ups and downs, how is the situation now?

A: Looks very good to me.
P: Do u agree that “Sawt El Ghad” is the number one radio station in Lebanon?

A: Yes and No. There is no such thing as number one radio or TV. It’s just a marketing gimmick to get more advertisers’ money. Statistics are based on a per-hour listenership or viewership.
P: Are u in good relationship with all your competitors in other radio stations?

A: I am in a very good relationship with everybody and some of them are good friends as well.
P: We notice that you adopt a somehow low profile living style, don’t you seek fame?

A: I don’t know…It’s just the way I am.
P: What are your future plans?

A: Always…For me to know and for you to guess…..hehehe
P: What does the music means to u and are you up to date with all the new releases and stuff?

A: Music is an integral part of who I am and of what I do. I wake up everyday with songs in my head. I do keep up to date through foreign radios, MTV, internet, etc…
P: How is your relationship with your fans knowing that u are the funniest host in Lebanon?

A: Ask the fans..

P: Lately, You’re on Facebook, does it help u keep in touch with all of your fans?

A: Yes, but I’m too lazy to follow it up..
P: A final word to Lebjournal readers?

A: Ma fish Massaaaaariiiiiiiiiiii……
