this thread is especialy for men(you'll figure out why as you read). blood is mostly made of iron(7adid) your whole body needs about 3 grams of iron, 2.5 gram for the blood and 0.5 for other functions. now the thing is, when your blood cells within you die, they get recycled and the iron that was in them is reused. so technicaly humans rarely need any exterior iron intake because they keep recycling their iron. men lose only about 1 mg of iron a day while women lose 1.8(they have their cycle luckily for them in this case, this is why it is more necessary for men to lose blood) anyway so when you eat meat and other sources of iron, iron increases in your body without having any function to perform, so it becomes an iron free radical, free radical attacks blood vessels(bya3emlo tasallob) attack regular cells and may cause cancer(anything that causes stress on the cells like sun, free radicals, smoke may lead to cancer) it also causes damage to the heart and liver. now the damage of course will not show in a 20 year old person, but by the time you hit 50, something like that would have made an significant effect
the best solution to prevent iron build up is donating blood, when blood is excreted outside your body, it can't be recycled, the iron that was in it is now lost, so your body now takes the iron free radicals that were attacking your cells and uses them to form new blood cells results: less iron free radicals, your blood vessels will live longer, your heart and liver will be less damaged, the younger you start donating the better it is for you http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ood.html?cat=5 oh yeah almost forgot, there is also the small insignificant detail that your blood might save a life of someone you don't even know, it might also save the life of someone you hate, but I guess it's the price we will have to pay to live better.

Donating blood takes a few minutes, no pain, very short-lived and mild side-effects, but has huge benefits altruistically you selfish, selfish people =P
Systematics, each blood unit is rigorously tested not just for HIV, but many other diseases transmitted through blood transfusion such has Hep C and STDs. Also, respectable blood campaigners will keep track of their donors and whether or not their blood was usable, especially those with rare blood types such as O- and AB- I for one began donating blood in the July war (im O-) and continue to do so every 3 months or so. That 200ml of blood won't cost you a thing, and think of it as saving a life of someone you love, or even your very own life thanks to someone else's generosity. I realize that many people don't like the idea because they might faint or are afraid of needles... Come on people, if you are a healthy, balanced individual, there is virtually no harm in helping the world become a better place. As i always say when campaigning with the LRC: "Merci, bass nshalla ma t3oozoona"

I donated blood just now
I feel a bit dizzy anyway after you donate you can choose any chocolat and juice you want, I took a bonjus and a snickers bar they did not do any tests for me before taking my blood, just gave me a series of questions in a paper to fill, I doubt they take my word for it I don't even know my blood type all tests on the blood are done after you donate not before I donated 450 ml, it wasn't painful or anything and I was a big coward so I didn't watch or look at what was going on except in the end, it's not so badwhen she asked me what motivated you to donate, was it saving a life? was it the love of giving? so I told her about my selfish reasons and about reducing the risks of heart problems and she laughed at me and told me I was right ![]() I'm on a diet so the snickers bar will go for the first lucky friend of mine that happenes to pass by General Rami if you read this soon, I'm in the LAU cafeteria

I don't like to be expected to do something good, and I don't like people I don't know calling me
and my blood type is not really that rare, if it were AB-I would have given my number but it's O, really not that hard to find. AB- I would have given it in exchange of something way more valuable then a snicker bar too
