Default Windows Remote Desktop Connection

Anyone knows about this:
How does an application running on computer X know whether I'm accessing it from computer X locally, or remotely from computer Y?
And is there a way to make it think I'm accessing it locally, even when I'm remotely connected to the terminal?

os is Win xp

thanks

i'm sure that you are trying to turn off an antivirus or an internet security suite.
the answer is easy, the application monitors the port and will know whether the action taken is from the local or the remote user.
As for how to spoof a local user, it's complicated not to say impossible.

actually, it's not directly related to security. more to saving $$s

I have both admin & physical access to both computer. One of them is at work, and we have a commercial program running on it. I want to use that program from home, by remotely connecting to my work computer, however due to licensing issues the program doesn't allow me to use it using a remote connection.

so when i'm at work, i can log in and use it fine. From home, i can connect to my work computer, but the program figures out that i'm remotely connected and locks...

so does it become any easier if i have physical access to the machine (from work)?

thx

from the title i thought you were talking about the new feature of the msn...

as for remote access i hate it ! and especially it's code...

be sure that your firewall allows it and after playing with your "remote"..turn it off again.

i don't know why some people are taking about msn.

anyway, i think Kingroudy understood my question the 1st time.

you had said it was very difficult, nearly impossible.
got it.
but i though you had in mind that i was trying to hack something, which i am not.
so I'm telling you that i have admin privileges on both machines, and i can actually be physically there if needed to adjust any settings, etc... if that makes it an easier/more doable task? (of hiding from the application the fact that i'm remotely connected whenever i actually am)

thanks

ya habibi...what i was talking about is this

if you read the passage you can see that :
" With your permission, he/she can use his or her mouse and keyboard to work with you on your computer."
if that is what you want..try this method...

and...i'm NOT "some people"...i'm Sony.

Hmmm... You want to just run that application or what?
You can do a trick by remotely running a batch script that will locally run the application you're talking about! So it won't detect this as RPC
