Well in the USA u actually have 3g and some gd bandwidth so u can actually use the iPhone for all ur business needs. Here I just use it under wifi. Of course apple restricts everything because they like to be in control and minimize illegal usage dt 4get apple have iPods they need to control soft and music distrbution. I used samsung jet wish able have been a competitor 4 the iPhone and it sux. It is slow it takes slot of time to response even to simple things like scrolling thru the contacts. Java based games... Dt 4get the iPhone Sdk is quite nice and has a lot of doumentation.
anw the full usage of he iPhone needs many hacks starting with a jailbreak a safari denload manager. An office documents manager. A file browser and a multemedia player. Once u have that u ll end up with a mini laptop which is fun 2 use.

i got Blackberry Storm 2 9550, I LOVE THIS Phone, great for normal & business use
touch screen, great sound, lots of memory, great user interface, excellent blackberry support, LOTS OF THINGS to customize, you can even customize the location of the sms icon on the screen!, or how many vibrations you would like the phone to ring and how long is this vibration, those are like 1% of what you can customize, this one smashes iphone, for sure!

The thing is that you really have to use an iphone before throwing comments, especially the 3GS. For a small example, open the contacts list on any of any "touch" phone and try to scroll down, you ll notice glitches and slow downs, this does not happen on 3gs nor on 3G. It might happen on 2G iphone runnign newest firmware but that is now an old "iphone". One final note on UI (user interface), there is a reason all designers (web/graphics), prefer to work on Macs rather than PCs it is because Macs have the best UI. And if anyone has ever developed for a Mac (Cocoa), there are tons of documents explaining the design of the UI of applications on Macs, like how many buttons to put and where to put them to make them more relevant for users. Apple has always focused on UI and that is what beats any other competitor phone, not to mention that the market of the iphone (appstore) is huge, so it is more profitable to develop for the iphone than to do an Ovi (nokia) or blackberry app. as Apple has really pushed the limit of online content and delivery so that previous giants are trying to imitate them. I just saw the blackberry storm 2 vs 3gS video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yqm5E3sGgE the only thing i noticed is that the blackberry is not smooth enough (zoom in/out will directly move in out, instead of the iphone's smooth feeling). In any case, it is of course a matter of choice and what you are going to use it for (just phone, games, development, ...)

@ Mich, you do not have to download apps, they are there
and there are amazing app too, no1 is forcing you to download. Quote:
how did we lose track of the topic? :P These are some terms that were introduced to the public by the iphone community. When you start an iphone, it is locked to a SIM card (aka At&T). Jailbreaking: To be able to crack the "apple" security and be able to access the root of the iphone (obtain read/write access) Activating: To be able to bypass the lock screen on the iphone (Emergency call), and access the iphone OS (use it as an ipod). Unlock: To remove the restriction to one SIM card and make the phone work on all SIM cards. Now there are other types of iphones, for example factory unlocked (like the one I have), which does not need to be activated or unlocked because it works on any SIM card from the box. But it needs a "jailbreak" to be able to run cracked apps. Hope the above helps
