Wayne Rooney says Fabio Capello will leave 'no stone unturned' in his efforts to make England winners of the FIFA World Cup™ next summer.
The Manchester United striker claims the England head coach's attention to detail and confidence-building will stand the team in good stead when they go to South Africa.
England kick off the campaign against the USA on Saturday 12 June, just down the road from their training base in Rustenburg. The next two games are against Algeria in Cape Town on 18 June and then the final group game against Slovenia in Port Elizabeth on 23 June.
"If the qualifying phase is anything to go by, the manager and his staff will leave no stone unturned and we, the players, will all know what is expected of us before the first ball is kicked," said Rooney.
"The team is full of confidence at present and that comes from the belief the manager has instilled in us. One of his many strengths is the confidence he gives you as an individual. It will be interesting to see him at work during the tournament, as I said before, his attention to detail is amazing."
Rooney rates the USA as England's main rivals and picked out Everton keeper Tim Howard as a key player.
"I don't think you can take anyone for granted who has reached the World Cup finals and our opening fixture against the USA will be a test," said Rooney.
"They have lots of World Cup finals experience and their players are playing all over the world. Tim Howard is a top keeper and has fantastic experience from his time at Manchester United and now with Everton.
"I really like Clint Dempsey as a player, I think he is a constant threat when he plays for Fulham and then there is Landon Donovan who I think is one of those players who can make things happen in a game, so there is no doubt that this will be a tough opening game."

Rooney described Algeria as being "a team full of skill and flair" and was also impressed by Slovenia when they played a friendly at Wembley in September.
He said: "They were a team with plenty of ability and, most importantly, they can keep hold of the ball for long periods which is a definite plus at international level. So there will be no easy games and we will have to be at the top of our game to be successful."
Rooney believes that his experience of winning the Premier League and Champions League since the last FIFA World Cup will help him deal with the pressure of next summer. He added: "My experience of playing in big games has increased dramatically and my experience of winning trophies has greatly improved.
"Since the last World Cup, I have been involved in winning Premier Leagues and Champions League finals and there is no substitute for that type of experience."

England captain John Terry believes it is important his side get off to a winning start against the United States at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. Fabio Capello's side were paired with the USA and Slovenia - two sides they know reasonably well - and African play-off winners Algeria, about who the manager admitted he knows "nothing."
"I was with my England and Chelsea team-mates Frank (Lampard), Joe (Cole) and Ashley (Cole) watching the draw," said the Chelsea man. "We had just landed at Manchester ahead of our match against Manchester City tomorrow and watched the teams drawn from the bus on our way to the team hotel.
Manager Fabio Capello has warned his players not to be complacent, something echoed by his captain, but Terry was also relieved to have missed some of the bigger names they could have drawn. Terry told The Sun: "We can make history. We've missed the obvious big teams but everyone has earned their right to be there and we can't be complacent. We didn't want to end up in a Group of Death - and when you look at the Germany and Brazil groups, it could have been much worse.

"It's obviously very exciting with some great fixtures," he went on. "As far as England are concerned we are familiar with two of our opponents - USA and Slovenia - and know their players well. Hopefully this will help us prepare for those games."
Terry added: "England have never played Algeria and of course they got through to the finals with a play-off victory over Egypt. But for me, it's all about that first game and getting off to a good start. Every team's opening group match is important and we're no different - it's a big game."
England last played the United States in 2005, winning 2-1 in Chicago. They beat Slovenia in September this year at Wembley, also by a 2-1 scoreline.

Steven Gerrard echoed Terry's relief at avoiding big names such as France and Portugal. He told the Daily Mirror: "What I didn't want was to come up against the unknown and we have avoided that and we have avoided some of the really hard groups - like the one Brazil find themselves in. We have played two of the sides in our group under Fabio Capello - and beaten them. So we know what to expect and we know what we have to do to beat them."
The Liverpool midfielder also called on the team to guard against complacency in light of their favourites tag. "I am really encouraged by the draw, it is all we could ask, even beyond the the first group stage," he said.
"We have to be professional and show the right attitude because even though we'll be massive favourites you know the other teams in our group will see England as a huge scalp - almost their own World Cup final. But we have to be confident of getting maximum points otherwise we shouldn't be going."

John Terry Dropped as England Captain

John Terry was dropped as England's soccer captain by coach Fabio Capello on Friday, a week after allegations became public that the defender had an affair with the former girlfriend of teammate Wayne Bridge.

Rio Ferdinand will take over as captain as England prepares for its World Cup opener against the United States on June 12. Ferdinand, who had been vice captain, has been injured for much of this season.

Capello told Terry of the decision in a brief meeting at Wembley Stadium, a week after the married Chelsea star lost a High Court battle to ban publication of details of an alleged relationship with Vanessa Perroncel, the mother of Bridge's child.

"After much thought, I have made the decision that it will be best for me to take the captaincy away from John Terry," Capello said in a statement.

"As a captain with the team, John Terry has displayed extremely positive behavior. However, I have to take into account other considerations and what is best for all of the England squad. What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice."

The 29-year-old Terry had been appointed captain by Capello in August 2008.

"I fully respect Fabio Capello's decision," said Terry, who remains as Chelsea's captain. "I will continue to give everything for England."

Also Friday, Perroncel said she will not accept media offers to sell her story.
