United named world's most valuable club

Manchester United are the world's most valuable sports club, according to a report by Forbes.

The American wealth magazine put the Red Devils at the top of their latest list of the world's richest football clubs, with an estimated value of £1.2 billion.

And that leaves United flying high at the top of the sporting tree, ahead of the NFL's top team the Dallas Cowboys (£1.072 billion), and baseball's number one club the New York Yankees (£1.040 billion).

Spanish giants Real Madrid are second on the list of top football clubs at £859m, with Arsenal third on £767m.

European and Spanish champions Barcelona are fourth on £650m, but are the only debt-free side in a top six that is rounded out by Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Chelsea have slipped behind Juventus to ninth on the list after posting losses of nearly £50 million - the worst financial performance of any club in the top 20 - while Newcastle cling on to their place in the top 20 despite their relegation at the end of last season.

Last month I read an article on aljazeera sport saying that Real Madrid became the world's most valuable club instead of Man UTD, and Bayern was in the fourth position, but I can't remember the source of that article...
And by the way, Barcelona used to be in the 7th position in the last two years (according to Forbes), now they are in the 4th position ! Impressive !

I didn't say that aljazeera was the source of that article... Anyway, here it is, it was posted in March 2... but I think that here they are discussing a different thing, which is the annual income, while the Forbes' report is discussing the clubs value.

ريال مدريد يتصدّر قائمة الأندية الأكثر ثراءً


بات ريال مدريد الإسباني أول فريق رياضي في العالم يتخطى دخله السنوي حاجز الأربعمائة مليون يورو، بارتفاع بلغ 10 بالمئة عن السنة الماضية، وذلك بحسب أرقام مكاتب شركة "ديلويت" المختصة المنشورة اليوم الثلاثاء في النسخة الأخيرة من "ديلويت موني ليغ".


وبحسب الشركة، بقي النادي الملكي على رأس أندية كرة القدم للعام الخامس على التوالي من حيث كمية الأرباح، وارتفع رصيده هذا الموسم إلى 401.4 مليون يورو متقدماً غريمه التاريخي ومواطنه برشلونة (365.9) الذي انتزع المركز الثاني من مانشستر يونايتد الانكليزي (327) في حين بقي بايرن ميونيخ رابعاً (289.5) أمام أرسنال الإنكليزي (263) الذي تقدم جاره تشلسي (242.3).


وأشارت الشركة إلى أن العائدات التلفزيونية بمفردها ضخت إلى ريال مدريد 161 مليون يورو، ما يضاهي مجموع عائدات هامبورغ الألماني صاحب المركز الحادي عشر.


من جهته، استغل برشلونة موسمه الاستثنائي عندما أحرز لقب ست بطولات محلية وعالمية، في حين لعب انخفاض قيمة الجنيه الاسترليني دوراً في تراجع مانشستر يونايتد.


واعتبرت الدراسة أن الأزمة المالية العالمية لم تؤثر كثيراً على الأندية العشرين الأغنى في العالم، التي ارتفعت أرباحها موسم 2008-2009 لتصل إلى 3.9 ملايين يورو.


وقال دان جونز من الشركة: "ارتفعت أرباح ريال مدريد بنسبة 10 % رغم نتائجه العادية في إسبانيا وأوروبا (لم يحرز أي لقب) وذلك بسبب عائدات النقل التلفزيوني".


وأضاف جونز: "إن النجاح غير المسبوق لبرشلونة ساهم في رفع أرباحه إلى 57 مليون يورو وهو الأكبر بين الأندية التي شملتها الدراسة. الثنائية بين ريال مدريد وبرشلونة تؤكد هيمنة الكرة الإسبانية خصوصاً بعد فوز الأول في مسابقة دوري أبطال أوروبا على مانشستر يونايتد".


وفي ترتيب الدول، احتلت إنكلترا المركز الأول مع سبعة أندية بين العشرين الأوائل وأربعة بين العشرة الأوائل، تليها ألمانيا مع خمسة أندية ضمن العشرين الأوائل، ثم إيطاليا مع أربعة أندية وكل من إسبانيا وفرنسا (2).
