World Cup 2010: Italy Coach Marcello Lippi Tests 4-2-3-1 And 4-3-3 Attacking Formations In Training - Report

The coach has given an indication that an attacking mentality will be the style adopted in South Africa...

Marcello Lippi has concluded Italy's three-day training stage at La Borghesiani by testing some attacking formations ahead of the World Cup.

Sky Sport 24 report the coach tried attack-minded formations with three strikers in a number of different tactical set-ups.

There was a 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 as well as a 4-2-1-3 as he mixed up the session. Mauro Camoranesi, Marco Borriello and Fabio Quagliarella were used in a 4-3-3, before the coach swapped them around with Vincenzo Iaquinta, Alberto Gilardino and Antonio Di Natale.

He then tried a combination of Simone Pepe, Giampaolo Pazzini and Di Natale.

Although there is still over a month to go until kick-off in South Africa, early indications from Rome suggest that Lippi is likely to use an attacking line-up at the World Cup.

based on this logic, all the world cups won by West Germany shouldn't count
before 1994, Germany was being represented in World Cups by two teams: West Germany and East Germany.. so there was no united Germany..

following your logic: Germany hasn't won any world cup

sho 5as , wat are you talkin abt , hes talkin abt soccer back then wasnt the soccer we know now , there was no offside , goals were in dozens , back then soccer is way too different from now , mesh shatara the winning back then.

Well the thing is enno the rules keno the same 3a kel el fera2 so offside or not w talent metel now or not, el fekra enno keno all the same level, w he who was talented back then is like a person who's talented now who in 40 years will look back on and say HIM??? he was a SUPERSTAR?? nahhh he's a loser (like some say about Pele and Maradona and other legends now..)

dude, if half of germany was able to win world cups, i wonder what would happen if the team was united.

"Dude", Germany had two teams for many years in the same competition and couldn't win except 3 times..
Having 2 teams in the same competition increase the chance of winning, but the German losers were able to make it for 3 times only.

Anyway "Dude" you didn't answer why the 1934/1938 shouldn't count?
let us follow your logic and count the after 1994 world cups only. and you do the maths

how come having two teams increase the chance of winning? having the best of two teams increase the chance of winning.
prior to 1950 world cup, football was something like le3b wled.
if u've seen games that date to the 1930, it's like watching a second division game.
