And you're talking as if there are no pimps where prostitution is legal. Young people get taken advantage of, and if that young person is a girl they could be coerced into prostitution. Making it legal would make it easier for the pimp to get away with the crime. I saw a documentary a while back, there was this girl who had gotten mixed up with a gang. She fell in debt with them and to pay it off they told her to start giving webcam shows, soon enough she was working as a prostitute. They got minor punishment because they hadn't actually forced her to do anything, they just "suggested". |

My argument wasn't that drugs are similar to prostitution, but both of them are equally bad. Whichever of them you do, your life will be worse than anyone who doesn't. |

Tell you what, you're clearly having a problem imagining the harm this thing causes, so picture someone you love (relative or some girl you care about) being forced into prostitution. It's just fine, isn't it? People have the need to get a sexual release and that person you love is in desperate need of money. So it's a fair trade. After the deal is done, the client will move on, happy and will forget about this thing in a few weeks time. And that person you love will feel ashamed, will start to withdraw from society and starts loosing friends. Things aren't the way you think they are. It's not a matter of her just laying on the bed and when it's done it's over. And the same thing goes for men who prostitute themselves, you would think it wouldn't be so bad, you get laid and you get paid, but even male prostitutes suffer psychologically from these things. If you want to talk about this subject, I suggest you do some reading about prostitution and human trafficking, and yes, they are practically the same thing, whether the country it occurs in legalises prostitution or not. Where there is prostitution there is human trafficking. |

You do know it's banned in most countries, don't you?
I'm not saying this thing is going to disappear, nothing does. There will always be prostitutes, but same thing goes for drugs. (Don't give me the "Drugs aren't the same" argument, just reread my posts) Quote:
Human traffickers will not just disappear. If prostitution was legal, things could become very simple for them. Again, try to see things from the perspective of the prostitutes who are not enjoying their job. Think about how they must feel doing that crap every single night. The law should be something that can rescue them, not push them deeper into it. |
