I used to have a strong fear of dogs, to the point that I would take a 4 times as long way home from school because I knew that there always was a guy with his dog by the road when I finished school.
Didn't get over my fear until I was about 14 years old. I just started forcing myself to walk by dogs (tamed ones, not wild) and although I don't fear them anymore, I still feel uncomfortable around the bigger ones.
