Do we have the right to finish someone's life? Will you want someone who raped then killed a person that you "love" to stay alive? Would you rather see him spending the rest of his life in Jail? Or make him Suffer then kill him?

I am really confused on the topic, because for me there are 2 main things to consider:
1) ending someone's life of course, which is murder, if you murder a murderer that makes you one too
2) on the other hand, this man commited something really horrible, what is the alternative to executing him? life sentence, or at least 20 years in jail. in those years he will cost the public money for food, guards, a room, health maintenance(what if he gets sick ) possible damage cost (in case he escapes or kills someone in jail) electricity etc... and in some countries internet, libraries and other stuff. for 20 years, that could amount to half a million dollars for every single prisonner, should the public be forced to feed a criminal?

and that is why I am confused :P

I'm against it, except in special circumstances, such as a ruthless dictator or truly brutal murders. But not simple murder.

I used to think that too, but look at it this way, is it wrong to imprison a criminal who has kidnapped and illegally imprisoned someone?

I fully, totally, 100% support the death penalty (except in self-defense) for sooo many reasons. In addition to what mr_j mentioned, I would like to add the following issues:

- They say once a cheater, always a cheater. Well so does a killer "once a killer, always a killer". So any person who kills is very capable of doing it again.
- A killer who choose to end someone else's life mainly thought about the consequences like being caught, which means he already knew that his life was over.
- IMO, it is not a religion matter but a personal matter. Why should I accept the death & rape of my sister when her murderer is still alive?
- Especially in Lebanon, some murderers get away with it, let's say Samir Geagea for example. Do you personally think that 10 years of jail will bring back the death of sooooo many ppl and will erase the pain and hurt of so many families? I, personally, think that his death will be in Franjieh's hands.

if I were to give a final answer I would say, I am for the death penalty in poor countries, such as ours and worse, because of the heavy costs and our inability to properly handle these cases. I am against death penalty and for life in prison in advanced countries

and I would like to add the followign to the argument
most capital offenders are victims themselves of something that happened to them in their early life, or somewhere along the line, or the way they were raised. and there was a study done on it (forgot the source) these people suffer from psycological problems and stuff and it was not their fault, even hitler if you ook at his history, his father used to beat him, and ridicule him and tell him he is ashamed of him and that he will never be anything :P anyway, if some countries have the ability to help change some of these people, maybe get them to feel regret, and maybe be productive(write a book or a computer game, whatever) I'd support it...
