i didnt see the youtube in here but ghassan al rahbani talked from about a month or more about it .....he said that he's not sure if it was "stolen" from others or others took it from here....

nah man, it's the french flag with a tree inside, and then when we unleashed our creativity to the max, we decided to paint the blue side red too

the anthem wasn't stolen.. there's a story behind this.. i read it on a blog..
Mr. Mhd Flayfel who composed the "Rif" anthem was a man who used to sell anthems to all Arab countries.. (Google it)
He sold it to the "Rif" people, and then he thought that he would sell it again to Lebanese after the Rif republic fell apart.
Mr. Sabra bought the anthem from his student and made a name for himself. (that's a theory)

I'm not defending mr. sabra or someone but to me I don't care if it was stolen from someone or similar to some country's music..it is just a symbol. And being a symbol and it's stolen, we can conclude that our country is a symbol of theft and acts of indignity, that I agree with 100% . I'm not much of a patriotic but these things if are stolen or not or watever will not change my life.

i dont think ghassan has the right to speak about this, why dont he investigate his uncles works, i think fairuz sang Byzantine compositions for about 30 years
