there were many great great keepers, let me name some that were better than Casillas:
Sepp Maier and Oliver Kahn of Germany, Dino Zoff and Buffon of Italy, Jean-Marie Pfaff and Michel Preud'homme of Belgium, Edwin Van Der Saar of Netherlands, Lev Yashin and Rinat Dasaev of the Soviet Union and the list goes on.

edit: i totally forgot Peter Schmeichel of Denmark, Gordon Banks of England and Jose Luis Chilavert of Paraguay.

Amongst the Current Goalkeepers, i'd put him in top 5, however i put Manuel Neuer as the best in the world, go on youtube and watch his one man show against Porto in 2007, against Bayern in 2010 and Dortmund in 2011. (i'm just giving examples)

One of my favorite goalkeepers, he's the best right now, but I'm pretty sure that Manuel Neuer will be on top of all in a couple of years

to be honest, he has only recently picked up his form, he was pretty average last year despite decent world cup performances, but his performances have been erratic. Still he is one of the best goalkeepers nowadays and one of the best ever when it comes to pulling outstanding saves, however, as mentioned above there are historically more competent goalkeepers who were even more reliable and consistent, and much safer.
Even Valdes has been better all-around the past two years.
