I know you're a Linux guy, and you're gonna wanna get into custom ROMs and stuff like that. So I thought you should know about this.

Galaxy S II already has custom ROMs, it was already over clocked to 1.5GHz

What are custom ROMs?

custom roms are built by the xda community, modifying the software sometimes awesome-fully, and sometimes woefully (most cases). i stay away from custom roms because i can't dedicate 2 hours/week to backup/flash/restore and because most releases are full of bugs and unstable.

Custom ROMs are not for everyone if you don't know how to choose your custom ROM that doesn't make most of them full of bugs and unstable

Unstable custom ROMs are usually alfa or beta versions. Lots of Custom ROMs are stable. And I'm a guy with an experience in this domain You can consider this as a reliable post

Anyone can modify and recompile android (even my 5 years old brother) and we'll get different outcomes.
