Nice topic..I stayed in the southern suburb..didnt leave our area our home..so I stayed with my parents and my sis and bro and 2 neighbours.
our home is a duplex so we kept in one floor and it was the first floor not the second..and stayed in one room where we'd a tv and 2 pc's and ofcourse the hubble bubbles.. We used to go to the market by shortcuts between buildings and park places and ofcourse when there were no MK's or f16's. Once at night we were smoking hubble bubble in front of our home so we saw 2 guerillas passing through have their m16 and their needs. We used to switch off all the lamps and everywhere there's light we used to switch them off at night. For sure we also used to watch the street at night.. and everyday the same thing..ofcourse we got shocked when there were assaults cuz u know they were doing it suddenly..and especially the sound. and everyday the same thing.

Well I remember that before the war started by one day i had a night duty in the hospital in the ER (Emergency Room Department) ...
so in the morning (the day Hizbullah got the 2 hostiges) i came back home to Beirut and slept in the day coz i had another duty at night ... during this time the isra2ili attack started in the south ... when i woke up ... my mom told me that we are being attacked by Israel and SHN will speak at 6:00 p.m on Manar ... i was amazed ... i had no idea what's going on ... i was preparing myself to go to the hospital and listening to Sayyid Hassan explaining what's going on at the same time ... i didn't think back ten it would be a big matter, so i went to the hospital as usual even though mom begged me no to go ... when i arrived to the hospital, and after several hours, the attacks became more severe and wider ... and later on i knew that the roads and bridges are demolished (3ala tari2 saida-beirut)... so there was no way to go back in the morning ... so i was stuck in the hospital for 5 whole weeks ... from day 1 till the end ... and fortunately or unfortunately for me my rotation was in the emergency department ... so you can't imagine how much this period was stressful ... many doctors were missing and the ones available should back up their absence ... and being in a major hospital meant that many casualties would be coming to our hospital ... and that was the case ... i saw many many wounded people, many casualties, many cadavres from all ages (ya3ne manazir bet2atti3 el 2aleb) ... it's one thing to watch them on TV but another story when they are infront your eyes ... i didn't know day from night coz at any time you'll hear the ambulance which means you should be ready ... talking about the ambulance i remembered a funny story : (2ad ma sme3na sot el ambulance betssir tet5ayyal 3am tesma3o 3ala toul bi rassak ... ya3ne bezkor kent ana w my freind 2e3din 3a mad5al el ER and it was a calm night suddenly my friend told me semi3 chi sayyarit 2ess3af? eltello ma fiyye ellak eih aw la2 coz 3ala toul bi daynte hal sot )the only releiving thing back then is when i hear SHN speeches ... it gave us power and strenght to continue ... but i can't express the feeling when you are treating someone who you know he was defending our country and our honor ... 3ala toul 7ess 7ale zghir eddeim heik 3alam especially the young ones.... anyway we came up winning and that's what counts... long live el Mouqawama bi kel fi2eta Thank You...

Umh fortuanatly, I was not that close to the action as some of the guys here bass here's what I remember from the war.
0 hours - 1 day: I am in City mall with a friend who came for the summer, we are the only lebanese in city mall (2 germans with us at the movies, star bucks filled with sodiz) 1st day, I had english summer courses at uni, first 2 hours tabi3iyeh then a guy receives a msg from his mom saying that hezbollah attacked israel, bil "repos" I go into the net and read on tayyar and naharnet uno hezbollah 3emil l hay2a 3amaliyeh w khataff 2, we go back into class w bi balich l 2wass bil da7yeh w infijarate w ossass!! we didn't know they where so happy so fakarna l israelien 3emlo chi enzeil aw chi, the firings keeps getting louder and the prof who didn't beleive anything was happening asked us: is this really gunfire so a guy replies: la2 hayda bouchar. I send a msg to my brother asking him what's happening he replies (still got the msg "les israeliens attaquent", ba3dena everyone starts receiving a msg wiz a rumor in it genre, they reached saida...Course byokhlass, I go home, stick to the TV. 2nd day, I have uni, my parents refuse to let me go alone and we decide that I will go down wiz my dad and my brother who must go to his school get his carnet, we do that, I reach uni, we start talking to the prof, we get news that they bombed the port, I call my dad he picks me up and we go home, that was my last day of uni for the summer. day X, my brother and I were sitting 3al balcon, we hear a choper, it's getting closer and louder ba3dena it apears 3a rass l 7ay, it's an appache with the noise pointed at us w I can see the pilot (really can't explain the fealing you have at this moment) I screamed at my brother to go inside w I followed him, my heart kene toli3 la barra 3al khoff, ba3dena it turned out to be a US ambassy choper w we kept seeing it and others (sort a3rif tout les modeles tab3 l US chopers ) w sarit 3adeh.The day they bombed Acharafieh (the 2 water drilling trucks), my dad was in his office in acharafieh close to the place where they hit them, he called us and told us eza sma3na chi, we told him that we didn't, he said that l hay2a 3am yo2ssfo l da7yeh coz he heard an explosion, ba3d chway 3refna uno it was close to him w he came back abkar mine l 3adeh. btw: (that's funny and sad at the same time) donno if any of you watched LBC that day, they where filming near abc/zahrit l i7ssan when Israel bombed before the bomb reached the target you could see in the pic a guy holding a matress, a police man on his harley and a some people on the streets, when the bomb reached the target, the police man né2iz turned on the bike, the zamour and headed straight, now the funny/sad part is the poor guy with the matress that was probably thanking god he left where he was before and came ta achrafieh and seeing the reaction on his face when he heard the boom, he started running and I can imagine him thinking "*$^%#^%# le72ineh la honeh!!!" The day they bombed the 4 bridges (jounieh to jbeil ones) we woke up 3a 2asseiss normalement and where happy that the night was kind of calm w sma3na a boum, on TV they said 2ssfo jessr l xxxx (forgot witch one first) ba3dena 3 other booms and 3 other bridges. My dad called everyone to cancel work w they started calling the employees that where coming from this area, 2 where ok but they couldn't join the 3rd one bass after chi 30 minute they joined him, everyone was ok (2 happened to be between the bridges and one was still home). hala2 the afternoon we had to go to ajaltoun we started to decide if we should go or not ba3dena we decided to go, rkébna bil siyarra w mchina, we where alone on the road, ba3dena we reached tunel l zouk (b4 holiday beach), there is a bridge after it, there was 3 other cars on the road at this point w tayrine we passed the bridge doing chi 130 km/h, ba3den we reached ajaltoun they where surprised we came, there was an MK flying over head in ajaltoun w we returned by daylight. That's all I can remember for now. |

DAY 1: i woke up in the morning , got ready to go get my report card from the school , i live in ghazieh south of saida, its a big town with hizbollah and amal in it , anyway before i went to the school , i saw this breaking news on aljazeera "hizbollah captured 2 israeli soldiers" ofcourse i was happy cuz of that and i thought that israel would respond lightly like everytime.
so i went out to ride a taxi and go to school,on the way there all people were happy , everyone was holding samir qontar,s pics and all the captured lebanese pics , and they were 3am ywaz3o sweets and all. so: i reached the school , and on the way out i heard an explosion , it waz weird , so i kept goin and went and took a bus , in the bus people were talkin rubbish i couldnt understand anything , or i didnt want to understand anything , they were talking about israeli bombing all the south , and many deaths , and bridges bombed.i went bak home and nothing imp. happend that day.... so...in our big town , theres a saying (its soooo stupid) , well everyone said , that they would never bomb ghazieh , even me said that , ask them y , everyone says milyani 3omala {which is true } ,but one DAY THEY BOMBED a markaz tijari , so we kept on thinking that its only a markaz non-populated!!another day , it waz 9:36 am , i waz sleeping , when i heard this BIGG explosion!!! i woke up fritened and screaminggg , so freakin surprised and mad , and i knew that waz a bombing , and started cursing the israelans and ran out outside, i remember how the house shook when i heard the sound even after i woke up , so i ran outside and i thoughh that they bombed a building near us abt 50 meters ,and smoke was in the air so thick and people were screaming and my sisters were crying , and banat 3ammti from danemark were crying and my aunt , so i ran to help , thats when mom started screaming at me , 3 more minutes i knew that the bridge is bombed not the building its abt 150 meter away from my home , a man was dead , the father of my frnd .after 1 hour,5ay sihri came and holding this big shaziyi it waz HUGE and HEAVYYY , i held it , it unbilievible , if it fell on someones head , it would kill hiM!! days passed by , and everyday we wake up in the middle of the nite fritened cuz of bombs , they bombed buildings {non-populated} they bombed hungars , they bombed bridges , they bombs alot of things in ghazieh..... and shazaya most of the time were raining in our neighbourhood,we are close to the zahrani bridge , this bridge was bombed manytimes , and everytime was bombed our whole, neighbourhood shocked , and got fritened. 1 week before the end of war: a rumor went in ghazieh that flyers{manasheer} were dropped into it , ofcourse no one bilieved that cuz ghazieh as they say CANT BE BOMBED , once in the civil war it was bombed accidently and the israelans said theyr sorry!!! so no one bilieved the flyers.. 6 days before the end of the war: i woke up on the sound of the explosion , i thought like its the usual thing , some street bombed , some bridge , so o put on the news , and there was the biggest shock in my life maybe... a breaking news on newtv : a massacre in ghazieh!! majazara!!! it was like everything was falling into my head , i was surprised and shocked , minutes after they broadcasted the scenes the DT of our town was bombed and more than 16 was killed!!! i couldnt bilieve my eyes , il 3en daraboha!! i saw many people who i knew dead , and injured people who i knew being transported....so , MOM decided that we should go to saida wa2ta , so she asked me and my sister to pack our basic things and get ready , since our neighbours are high rank leaders in hizbollah , so we paked our things and went after 20 minutes , my bro in law , has a house in saida , hes livin in usa now with my sister, so we went to that house , and stayed in it..... TO BE CONTINUED sorry guyz if its sooooo LONG!!!!
