Marco Materazzi revealed to 'TV Sorrisi e Canzoni' the fateful words that earned him a headbutt from French legend Zinedine Zidane in last season's World Cup final. While speculation has been rife as to the exact nature of the comments, Materazzi has sought to quash the notion that his comment were racist. He described the situation leading up to his words as Zidane complaining about shirt pulling.Marco Materazzi has finally agreed to reveal precisely what it was he said to so anger Zinedine Zidane in last season's World Cup final victory for Italy against France...'Zizou' allegedly said, "If you really want my shirt, you can have it after the match."Materazzi responded, "I'd prefer your **** of a sister."Zidane turned and butted 'Matrix' full-force in the chest, creating an iconic television image, a red card, and a bizarre way to end his professional career.Matrix received a two game ban for his actions, and later apologised, saying, "I have stepped over the line in the past and I apologise for that. I have matured."Zidane's three game ban will forever go unserved due to his departure from football.Italy won the World Cup final of 2006 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Zidane netted first for France from the spot after just seven minutes, but saw red in the second half of injury time. Matrix scored Italy's second shoot-out goal, immediately prior to Trezeguet's miss.

Actually, we cannot deny what Materazzi said was absolutely wrong, but Zidane made a mitake by not cutting his tongue...
PS: I say Materazzi is smart cuz he knew how to get on the nerves of other players lol & I do not support him for it

Lippi: No Justification For Zidane's Head-Butt
After Marco Materazzi confirmed exactly what his infamous pre-headbutt comments to Zinedine Zidane consisted of, then-Italian coach Marcello Lippi has leapt to the player's defence... Marcello Lippi has given his take on revelations from Marco Materazzi revealed what exactly was said between him and Zidane during last summer's World Cup final. Materazzi lifted the lid on the trash talk earlier in the week, revealing that when he had tugged Zidane's shirt, the Frenchman had asked him if he wanted it, and he had responded by saying: "I'd prefer your **** of a sister." However, Lippi believes that too much is being said about that, and that nothing can excuse the way Zidane responded: by head-butting Materazzi in the chest. "I thought the words were slightly different, but either way too much importance has been put on this incident," he said. "It’s almost as if there is more talk about that head butt than Italy’s World Cup victory. "In any case, it doesn’t matter what was said. Whatever he could have said did not justify such a reaction from Zidane." Lippi coached Zidane at Juventus between 1996 and 1999. |

Vieira Drops Stunner: I Can't Sit With Materazzi
Patrick Vieira has revealed that he simply cannot sit with Inter Milan teammate Marco Materazzi Marco Materazzi's recent revelation of what exactly was said to Zinedine Zidane seems to have reopened a debate that had been closed. Matrix's Inter Milan teammate Patrick Vieira has now given his take, making it amply clear that while the respect as a player is there, he simple cannot stand the person, so much so that he cannot sit at the same table. "I think Materazzi is a great player who had an excellent World Cup and scored a goal in the final," saif Vieira on French television. "There are those who love him and those who hate him. I will only say that, as far as I am concerned, I will never sit at a dinner table with him." He also spoke about the Raymond Domenech episode, with his comments on Italy and match-fixing having sparked a furore. "That story has made a lot of noise over there [in Italy]," he continued. "They are trying to increase the tension because this game on September 8 is very important to them. "It’s more decisive for Italy than France, as they absolutely cannot afford to lose. "We must remain concentrated on the field and not think about anything else. I am not surprised they chose San Siro as the venue, this is a mythical stadium where there will be 80,000 fans." |
