anyway the first picture for bill clinton for example is the "I love you" sign ...because the thumb is released and extended and not held down.
Some other pics here like 3arafat's is a simple movement of the hand as he was talking. Many people feel better while having a certain hand gesture while talking.
Concerning the Corna, well it is simply for metal, referring to the "devil's horn".
It's just a simple way of communication between supporters of a musical genre.It's not like Satan came and told people to use it.
