In my personal opinion cohabitation can be an alternative to marriage, but just like many other subjects it is refused in Lebanon and the Arab world and it is as well a taboo.
The advantages of cohabitation or concubinage are many, one of which is getting to know your partner all the way better, including knowing him/her on the sexual level and on the level of behavior.... because believe it or not even after years of normal romantic relationship many new things are revealed once two people share the same roof. The disadvantage can be many as well: in case a baby was conceived it will be considered as a bastard so (طفل غير شرعي أو لقيط) which in countries such as Lebanon would find it hard to win the acceptance of the society. Personally I'm not against cohabitation as a principle, it has advantages and disadvantages just like any other thing in life, but since it is refused by my society and it would cost me a lot, I'd rather not try it so I can preserve my peace of mind .Hope that this will help you in your presentation. Good luck

I don't give a cent what society thinks and if society accepts or not. the worst thing you can do in life is try to please everyone at the expense of what you want. your real friends and the people who know you and know how much of agood person you are will not judge you. and to hell with the rest :P
personnaly the advantages are many, and I do not see disadvantages. about what hala said about having sex or conceiving a baby, that could happen even if she is living in her own home, and with a strict family, after all, it only takes moments ![]() to me personnaly, I am against sex before marriage.(don't get me wrong, I would marry a non virgin and I don't judge nor care about what others do) but sex only makes things more complicated, and after you've seen everything that person has to offer and you came to know him/her that well, you've killed the spark and the mystery and you set a time bomb on the relationship that will inevitably go off, it only gets boring from there. to me coliving's advantages are: you can split the rent :P you can rent a big 500 $ aparetment and each pay 250(which is easy even for the wages we have in lebnon) you're free from your parents(I want to move out as long as you don't sleep together and you pay the rent on time and you're not a jealous person, things will not get very complicated.

yeh exactly the whole society thingy is really crapy i guess no matter how much we deny it bel ekhir we do care about what our neighbors and relatives say. mr_j kellna men 2oul heik "i do wtv pleases me" bass i guess we all adopt to some sort of norm bel ekhir. w bekhsous l it only takes moments
dud im sorry hahhaha kidinw halhoula i kinda disagree coz i dnt think i can c somethng that u can get out of just like as, bekel souhoule as an alternative to marriage coz a huge part of marriage is the commitement w in that case commitement is almost nonexisting but i c it as a transactional phase just like adam said. |
