kingroudy , we often sketch the objects on the paper first , the paper is called in 3d world storyboard , we use it to insure that we are drawing the same object we did imagine .
after finishing its drawing on the paper , we scan it , and retouching it in any photoshop , so to become ready to enter the 3d studio ( we use 3ds and maya3d and softimage the XSI ) after entering the image in the 3d studio , we always make the unit set up in metric system , and begin to draw the lines over the scanned paper .

i want to ask you a logical question :
what is the top of the car ? does have any hole ? what is the back of the car , how are the light shapes ? what is the front of the car , how are the lights ? big , small ? how could you draw a car without knowing it from all around ? sketch the other sights to clearly draw it in 3d. w bala musheghabe

It is also used for movie effects and movie previsualisation. because it's made in somehow to the intermediate level of users , it is the most famous 3d studio in the world . the first version of 3ds was released in 1990 , in 1995 the program became huge and had a lot of plugins and it needed to expand its power over a true_color (more than 16 millions of colors ) platform ( win NT = windows New Technology ) , Autodesk named it : the maximized ( el mu3azzam ) , since 1995 till now , it has its famous name : 3ds , or 3ds max , or simply max , and there is no such a program named 3d max

introduction to SoftImage|XSI
Softimage|XSI is a high-end 3D graphics application developed by Softimage, Co., a subsidiary of Avid Technology, Inc., which is used predominantly in the film, gaming and advertising industries for the production of 3D environments and scenes. Four different versions of the software have been developed by Softimage to cater to the differing needs and budgets of users: Education, Foundation, Essentials, and Advanced. because it is made in somehow to the advanced professional users , XSI still hidden , and it has no repetition like 3ds max . but XSI is one of the greatest program those are used to produce high quality 3d animation and 3d effects ( Shrek 1,2,3 for example needed the help of XSI to animate the donkey ) XSI is the professional's choice , unfortunately , in lebanon they dont use it , and the cheaper book for it costs about 75 $ ( even it is in black and white ) Note: half-life (fortress , and counter strike ) 1 and 2 are made with XSI bil kemil

introduction to Maya|3d
Maya is a popular, proprietary integrated node-based 3D software suite, evolved from Alias PowerAnimator. The software is released in two versions: Maya Complete (the less powerful package) and Maya Unlimited. Maya Personal Learning Edition (PLE) is available at no cost for non-commercial use, although rendered images are watermarked. Maya was developed by Alias. It was originally released for the IRIX operating system, and subsequently ported to the Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems. IRIX support was discontinued after the release of version 6.5. When Autodesk acquired Alias in October 2005, they continued Maya development. The latest version, 8.5 Service Pack 1, was released in June 2007. An important feature of Maya is its openness to third-party software, which can strip the software completely of its standard appearance and, using only the kernel, can transform it into a highly customized version of the software. Apart from its intrinsic power and flexibility, this feature in itself made Maya appealing to large studios which tend to write custom code for their productions using the provided software development kit. Note : all 3d animation those on Discovery and National geographic channels are made in maya|3d shrek 1,2,3 are made with maya|3d in general , all Pixar animation and Dreamworks works are made with this great software
