Clear the Cache, Browsing History, and private data in Firefox
  • Firefox (like most browsers) keeps a copy of certain things on the websites you visit, like images for example. Doing this allows Firefox to load pages that you visit regularly (or at least once) faster.
For more information about CACHE click here

Firefox makes it simple to delete any files that are being stored in the Cache.
  • Mozilla Firefox (like other browsers) keeps a browsing history of the webpages you visit, it does this so you can easily find a webpage you recently visited again.
To view your webpage history hold down the CTRL key and press H.

Sometimes you will want to clear the browsing history, Firefox allows you to do this easily.

tools--->options--->privacy--->private data--->check 'always ask me before clearing private data'--->click on settings--->and check anything u want to clear--->click ok--->clear now

A Firefox Auto-Reload

A Firefox Auto-Reload:

One add on, Tab Mix Plus (TMP), is one that enhances the tabbed browsing feature of Firefox. It allows you to undo tabs you may have accidentally closed and it also has a session manager, which can restore Firefox back to a previous state if it ever closes unexpectedly. It also has features I couldn’t live without, namely auto-reload.

Once you've download TMP, make your way to the Options menu, click on the Menu icon at the top and then click on the Main Context Menu tab, . These options can all be added or removed from the context menu, which comes up when you right click anywhere in the white space of the page. Do not right click over an image, as a different menu will pop up. Make sure the option of “Reload Every” is checked and then click OK.

tools--->options---->tabs--->tab mix plus options---->check reload every or reload tab (it's the same)--->ok

You will now be able to right click and set the auto-reload rate. Next, click anywhere in the white space of the page and the menu shown below should appear. Notice that now, you should have “Reload Every” as a pull out menu. Move your mouse over it and the menu will be shown. There are some predefined amounts of time already set, which makes it easy to use. First, you’ll want to make sure that Enable is checked . Then you can choose the amount of time between reloads. If you want all the tabs in Firefox to reload at that rate, simply click on Enable All Tabs . That way, you don’t have to set every tab’s rate.

If you would like to set your own reload rate, simply click on Custom and the menu shown below will appear. This helps if you want to have some tabs reloading an odd number of seconds, as all the presets are multiples of five.

enjoy

Default Re: firefox tricks

More tricks:

1) More screen space. Make your icons small. Go to View - Toolbars - Customize and check the “Use small icons” box.

2) Tab navigation. Instead of using the mouse to select different tabs that you have open, use the keyboard. Here are the shortcuts:
  • Ctrl+Tab (rotate forward among tabs)
  • Ctrl+Shft+Tab (rotate to the previous tab)
  • Ctrl+1-9 (choose a number to jump to a specific tab)
3) Mouse shortcuts. Sometimes you’re already using your mouse and it’s easier to use a mouse shortcut than to go back to the keyboard. Master these cool ones:
  • Middle click on link (opens in new tab)
  • Shift-scroll down (previous page)
  • Shift-scroll up (next page)
  • Ctrl-scroll up (decrease text size)
  • Ctrl-scroll down (increase text size)
  • Middle click on a tab (closes tab)
4) Limit RAM usage. If Firefox takes up too much memory on your computer, you can limit the amount of RAM it is allowed to us , go to about:config, filter “browser.cache” and select “browser.cache.disk.capacity”. It’s set to 50000, but you can lower it, depending on how much memory you have. Try 15000 if you have between 512MB and 1GB ram.

5) Reduce RAM usage further for when Firefox is minimized. This setting will move Firefox to your hard drive when you minimize it, taking up much less memory. And there is no noticeable difference in speed when you restore Firefox, so it’s definitely worth a go. Again, go to about:config, right-click anywhere and select New-> Boolean. Name it “config.trim_on_minimize” and set it to TRUE. You have to restart Firefox for these settings to take effect.

More And More

How to store and recover your Firefox Bookmark

There are few ways how we can store and recover our Firefox Bookmark in case something bad will happen like hard disk damage or we just want to use the bookmark list within internet browser in another computer. However, by using an utility called MozBackup, we can achieve that in few simple steps.

MozBackup is a simple utility for creating backups of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Mozilla Suite, and Netscape profiles. With this software, we can backup and restore bookmarks, mail, contacts, history, extensions, and even cache. What you need to do is just run the wizards, and finish!

Download MozBackup

There are many more "hidden" features in Firefox, which you can find and test yourself easily. Google for "Firefox about:config" (if you type about:config in the URL you'll get the page with all the entries), many tweaks are available throughout the web, have fun
