go to C:\Users there should be a folder named the same as the original user, and a folder named the same as the current user. merge those two folders.
if you don't find the folder of your old user, then most probably you lost your shortcuts/fav/icons but this is no big deal dude.

thank you. but when u say "merge", does u mean to copy and paste in the same folder ? is it a specific order ?

excuse my naivity kingroudy but i'm far away from the computer domain :P

merge means copy the contents of the folder in the other folder,cuz if u copied the folder in the location u will be asked if u want to overwrite the folder,by which u will lose some contents.

i've got this problem. my laptop bugged this morning (it happens). i was forced to restart it. then, i've got a message that the profile can't be located coz it's corrupted. i've tried to restore system. create a new account and depalce the genuine one to this account.....nothing is working.

guys,
the problem started when my comp suddenly crashed and when i restarted Windows gave me a msg the user account is corrupt. i've done what kingroudy told me, but Now how do i access my encrypted files ? i cant log in using my corrupt account . some of these files are highly valuable to me...plz help

right click on the corrupt user
properties
security
advanced
owner
and replace owner

thx systa. but it didn't work. i have windows xp. after right clicking the corrupted user profile, i don't find the the steps u listed above.

i succeeded to do it Systa. but still the files are encrypted, with the corrupted profile being the only user who can access these files.
i will be very thankfull for helping. as i said, these files are so valuable to me.

Well this is easy... Follow the steps I mention here:
- Create a new admin user account (You need to have 3 accounts: The corrupted one, the alternative one and the new one you're going to create)
- Login to the alternative user (Not the new one you just created)
- Go Tools => Folder Options => view
- Click Show hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK.
- Locate C:\Documents and Settings\Old_Username folder (In case Windows is installed on the drive C.)
- Copy all files and sub folders inside this folder EXCEPT FOR Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log and Ntuser.ini
- Locate the C:\Documents and Settings\New_Username folder
- Paste all what you copied before inside this folder.
- Log off the computer, and then log on as the new user.
-Done.
