United were dealt mixed news on the injury front this weekend when no sooner had Antonio Valencia started training with the Reserves after a five-month injury lay-off than Ji-sung Park was ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Park had only last week begun training with the rest of the squad again after returning from a month-long involvement with South Korea at the Asian Cup in Qatar, after which he announced his retirement from international football.

The Korean midfielder has been a key player for United this season, particularly in Valencia's absence, and Sir Alex had been looking forward to welcoming him back into the first-team fold.

"We got a blow on Saturday morning with the news that Ji-sung Park did his hamstring on Friday afternoon in training," the boss explained to ManUtd.com. "It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well. We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He’ll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us."

On a more positive note, fellow winger Valencia is edging ever closer to a return after breaking his ankle and suffering ligament damage in an innocuous challenge during United's 0-0 Champions League draw with Rangers at Old Trafford in September.

"The good news is that Valencia started training with the Reserves on Saturday," added the boss. "So he’s on his way back and that will be a real boost to have him available for the run-in."

It was initially feared he might miss the entire season. But after undergoing an operation he has worked hard during the rehabilitation process and the indication is that he could play again in March.

Wearing the famous number 7 jersey has apparently brought no luck for Michael Owen. His injury worries and his lack of playing time have miserably shaped his career at Old Trafford.

The only good news is that his groin problem will not keep him out on the sidelines for the rest of the season as it was initially feared. Michael Owen is expected to be back to fitness as early as next week.

Coach Alex Ferguson is even thinking of doing justice by featuring him against Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. On Friday, The Sun quoted Fergie as explaining:

“Michael suffered a small injury during the week which will force him out tomorrow. It is disappointing because I was going to play him.

“But, there is no point taking a risk. He could be available for the Marseille game on Wednesday.”

Besides missing Michael Owen for Saturday’s FA Cup match against Crawley Town, Manchester United will also be without Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian broke his leg against Rangers in the UEFA Champions League back in September and he still has a way to go before being

I am starting to think that Chelsea won't be a problem its Liverpool I am worried about to be honest

I think if we drew against Marseille then won home we will be fine

as for the cup its quiet obvious that Sir Alex isn't giving it much attention so meh

they're both worrying, Chelsea more ofcourse cz they're a stronger side bas their form recently has been poor. w about the Cup, Sir Alex IS giving it attention, he plays his youth in that, and to him - youth is the most important asset of them all, w seeing how they sucked against Crawley, he'll be making loads of changes in the summer!

the only youth I see working is Hernandez even he needs some time, and Bebe lol i just dont understand that guy

Chelsea are playing worst week after week, byedghato with no goals, if they cant at least draw against us in Standford Bridge I don't think they will last against us in old trafford

I just hope we are ready for this its going to be a tough month for Man United
