United 'to sell Rooney'



Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is to sell Wayne Rooney in the summer, according to the News of the World.
The paper claims that Rooney and Ferguson's relationship, already rocky following the striker's contract negotiations last autumn, has reached an all-time low in recent weeks - despite the fact that the 25-year-old has finally rediscovered his scoring touch.
The paper's source claims that, "relations between Rooney and Ferguson are so strained that it is affecting other players," adding that, "Sir Alex is not pleased with the way Rooney has been playing... Rooney has been moaning about the squad again but Sir Alex has told him he should look at himself before criticising others."
With United's other stars - particularly striker Javier Hernandez - spearheading the club's efforts in this campaign, the way is apparently clear for the Red Devils to cash in on a player that Ferguson has simply had enough of dealing with. Rooney is expected to fetch a fee to the tune of around £60-80 million.

elnashra get their news from various magazines and sites, and forget the source, it doesn't make sense SF said not while ago (after Man City's game) that he is delighted with Rooney's performance and he is doing a great job why would he want him to leave?

United settle on new keeper

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is to take a massive gamble by choosing a player barely out of short trousers to replace goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, according to Monday's papers.
The Daily Mail claims that after months of scouting, United have decided that Atletico Madrid's Spanish 20-year-old David de Gea is the one that they want.
Ferguson had been tipped to look for a more experienced keeper to replace the retiring Dutchman, with Schalke's Manuel Neuer and Lyon's Hugo Lloris among the contenders.
Instead, the club will take a "huge gamble" for de Gea - despite the fact that he has less than two seasons of top flight experience in Spain - after becoming "convinced the Atletico Madrid star can handle the responsibility".

Manchester derby 'will cost millions to police'

The FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Manchester City has been described as "a complete nightmare" by police.
The bitter local rivals will face each other at Wembley over the weekend of April 16/17 in a match that is expected to be the most expensive security operation ever for a single football match, costing "millions of pounds", according to one source.
All FA Cup semi-finals have been played at the new national stadium in London since 2008.
Previously, all but a few semi-finals had been played at neutral club venues, but the FA now stages all semis at Wembley to help recoup the cost of rebuilding the stadium.
Should City qualify for the last eight of the Europa League, then the derby game would be moved to Sunday April 17, the same day as both Liverpool's Premier League clash at Arsenal and the London Marathon.
With the majority of fans travelling to the 90,000-capacity venue from Manchester, the fixture will require a major joint-operation between Scotland Yard, Greater Manchester Police and British Transport Police, the latter force needed to keep fans separate on trains down to London.
A Scotland Yard source told the Daily Mail: "From a security point of view, this is a complete nightmare. It will cost millions of pounds."
