Default XP or Vista?

As you know windows vista is the latest operating system released by Microsoft after the real successful windows XP that was released in 2001.
I got a laptop yesterday and i had on it windows vista basic, so far i had plenty of problems in it, wireless ones, new programs installing....
I googled it and found lot of similar cases with vista.
I am currently downloading windows xp sp2 to install it back.
In general what do you people think about windows vista? is it worth it?

well, windows vista SP1 will be released at the beginning of 2008, this will make vista worth to install, but till now, xp is much better, with much less problems.

i'm on vista home basic, i haven't seen any single problem, w bel 3ax, it's really helpful, automatic download of drivers, includes XP's SP1, SP2 and windows 98, NT etc...

very easy, great interface, error reporting with solutions from microsoft itself

Man u should get windows 3.1, wlo 7ach tne2o 3a Vista the OS is great uno what the hell is Microsoft supposed to do if the programmers are too lazy to updates the programs, the only problem I had with vista is that file copying used to take forever but they patched the problem.

Vista is great? Allow me to state my point of view.
1- The "over"-security feature that asks for confirmation on everything you do really sucks, it's worse than having a bunch of spyware on yoru system.
2- Home basic, Home premium, Business, Ultimate, ...Microsoft thinks they can play smart to charge real high, where's the catch you ask?
3- Vista Home doesn't have logon to domain controller features hence sucks for proper networking..
4- Vista Business isn't supported on most of the latest notebooks (they all support the Home version) and you can't find drivers (such as card reader, webcam, etc..), and if you're lucky you'll get a Business x32 bit which is rare, if you're unlucky (most likely) you'll get a x64 bit version, which I suggest to throw away because you won't find drivers for it.
5- Vista Ultimate? Naaaahhhh... don't even try to look in there, too heavy. Way too overloaded with crappy graphics and animations that will suck the life out of your VGA, NVRAM and PageFile.
6- Get one of the latest systems on the market (affordable that is, high-end 1600$) and take a look at the rating system Vista gives to your hardware. You won't get more than 3.0/5.0! Why? Simply because nowadays systems aren't fully ready to support such a heavy OS.

Those are 6 main points, you want more? I can give you 50 more.. The point is, we're not ready for Vista yet OR Vista is TOO heavy and TOO bulky for anyone to use properly. Would you prefer getting Vista and changing your HP Laserjet 1018 because you can't find a driver for it or stick to XP? Knowing that HP's website says "driver coming soon" for many many things for months now, we all know they won't be any drivers before 2009 because they know that Vista isn't the proper thing yet.
So which will it be?

100% with you, this feature sucks real hard... if u want to shit, it asks u for confirmation, after that, it asks u if u want to use the flusher, if u say yes, it asks you, are u sure do u wanna use the flusher? u click yes that's annnnnoying

well, vista is meant to stay till 2012 at least, before another Windows emerges, til that time, we will have 16 cores in a home cpu, 8 gb like a peice of cake, 1TB in every case, and a geforce 11950GTSXSXEXTREMEULTRA. now that's a 5/5.
if we are going to put some 4.5/5 for current systems, we will have to put something like 8/5 for future ones... that won't compile even..

what was available during the launch of xp? the low clocked old pentium 4 (williamette)... ram? 256mb was respectable at that time... HD? 40 gb was the biggest in store... vga?? geforce MX 4
